A Russian Shahed-type drone struck an apartment building in the Romanian city of Galati, causing damage to the structure and lightly injuring two people, local authorities said this happened after the Romanian government sent an alert for falling debris from surrounding airspace amidst an ongoing Russian attack on southern Ukraine.
Medical teams treated the injured at the scene. Both individuals were able to leave the building on their own, according to preliminary reports one received a direct injury while the other had a panic attack.
The incident comes amid rising tensions between Russia and NATO following expectations of intensified Russian strikes on Kyiv. Russia’s Defense Ministry has issued warnings urging civilians to leave the Ukrainian capital, while several European countries have so far refused to evacuate their embassies.
