Serving as the Director of National Intelligence under the Trump administration, Tulsi Gabbard has announced her resignation from the position amidst her husband’s recent bone cancer diagnosis. Gabbard notified President Trump during a meeting in the Oval Office on Friday, where she stated her intention to step down effective June 30.

In her resignation letter, Gabbard revealed that her husband, Abraham, has been diagnosed with an extremely rare form of bone cancer. “I cannot in good conscience ask him to face this fight alone while I continue in this demanding and time-consuming position,” she wrote.
