Following reports of a blast near an upscale restaurant in central Moscow, Russian state media agency TASS has confirmed that at least three people died and several others were injured. According to initial assessments, an improvised explosive device (IED) was used to carry out the attack, but so far, no group has claimed responsibility, nor is the target of the attack known.

An official from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation confirmed that an explosion occurred at approximately 08:10 p.m. on Kudrinskaya Square, a major public square in central Moscow, prompting the immediate dispatch of emergency response teams. The blast left at least three people dead and 15 injured at the time of the incident. In response, the Investigative Committee of Russia has launched a formal probe to assess the circumstances of the explosion and determine the final casualty count.

The explosion took place near the entrance of Balzi Rossi, a fine dining restaurant in central Moscow known for its high-profile clientele. At the time of the blast, the restaurant was hosting a private banquet closed to the public. In a statement, Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee confirmed that an unknown woman carried out the attack using an IED, killing two people and herself in the process. Among the dead are a customer and the security guard who tried to stop her from entering the restaurant. So far, the Anti-Terrorism Committee has not commented on whether the perpetrator had a clear motive.
